The Alykes of Larnaca (Larnaca salt lake) is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the island of Cyprus, described by unique specimens of eco-diversity. It was selected by the European Union as one of the areas in three countries (Cyprus, Malta, Greece) to be funded for the construction of a small-scale sustainable information station with a fixed budget.

Within the greater area, we selected a site that formerly functioned as a Venetian overflowing system, now transformed to steps. This specific location allowed us, not only to place the Information Station next to a monument on the site, but it also offered the opportunity to bridge the areas of the Alykes opposite the existing stream.

The proposed structure was composed of a metal frame, cl added with natural materials, wood and dried canes. The proposed programme was an exhibition corridor at the long volume and a projection space, placed at the intersection of the two volumes. Furthermore, the long corridor serves as a bridge between the “Natural Pathway” and the park, now inaccessible from that point, due to the stream.
